GENE-UP® STEC – stx & eae 2 (EH1 2) is a real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assay for the detection of E. coli stx1, stx2, and eae genes carried by E. coli in food products. This test is intended for use only as part of the EHEC detection method for the screening of EHEC.

Each GENE-UP STEC – stx & eae 2 kit contains components for 192 reactions total.

Ready-to-use. Freeze-dried pellets. All required strip tubes and caps are included in the kit.

Two different lysis protocols are possible: one with the VIDAS® ESP1 kit (REF 30229) (recommended for samples with high microbial flora) and one with the GENE-UP Lysis Kit (REF 414057)

The GENE-UP STEC – stx & eae 2 kit is to be used with the GENE-UP Thermocycler. Each reaction vial in the GENE-UP STEC – stx & eae 2 kit contains all of the necessary components for PCR, including sample-specific primers and probes and an internal amplification control.

The assays for the sample target(s) and the internal amplification control utilize dual Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) hybridization probes. These probes consist of two different short oligonucleotides that hybridize to an internal sequence of the amplified fragment during the annealing phase of the reaction cycle. FRET occurs only after the two probes come in close proximity from hybridizing to the template nucleic acid. The resulting fluorescent signal, along with any melt curve data (if applicable), is interpreted by the software to determine if the target nucleic acid is present. The software interprets data for each sample and gives a positive, negative or inhibited result.
